Martine Barnett

Martine Barnett has been part of the St. Helens School District since the fall of 2007. She started first as a Career Technical Education teacher in the area of Early Childhood Education at the high school. As the early childhood program at the district grew her role shifted into the Director of Early Learning which she did for several years. During this time she completed her administrative license at Portland State University and was then selected as principal of Lewis & Clark Elementary for two years. She started in the position of principal of Columbia City Elementary in the fall of 2023. Mrs. Barnett has a strong background in developmentally appropriate practices with the belief that families are a child’s first and most important teachers. The relationships between school, families, and the community are vital to the academic and social development of all children. Creating a safe and caring environment for students with high expectations and a deep level of respect for each member of the school community is the foundation of Mrs. Barnett’s leadership values.
